Our bags are packed!

It’s hard to believe that in a month or so, Andrew and I will be parents. Well, let me rephrase that, parents to a creature of the non-canine variety!

The reality of our impending parenthood is only becoming more real, as I’ve begun to experience more frequent Braxton Hicks contractions and my gate is slowly transitioning from a walk to a waddle. We have made arrangements of how I need to contact Andrew at work should I start to go into labor and our dog walker, Loretta, is on alert as well. But, I’m not getting too excited. As we learned in childbirth classes, only 11 percent of first-time moms deliver early or on time, so chances are, 4 weeks from now, I will pretty much be in the same state.
The little baby is getting bigger. I feel like every time I look at my belly, it’s a different shape. Sometimes it’s up, sometimes it’s down, sometimes its long and sometimes is short. I wonder what she is doing in there – I have also begun to wonder what, or who rather, she will look like. Here are a couple of pictures of Andrew and me as babies to give you an idea of what I’m thinking (I have a feeling she is going to look like her dear old dad):

Of course, just like any other soon-to-be mom in her final month of pregnancy, I have my good days and my bad. Sometimes I feel like I have enough energy to sprint a marathon and others I feel like I can barely make it up the stairs. My mood, unfortunately, can be just as erratic as well. Just ask my poor husband. Backrubs, midnight water trips and just being at my beck and call have all become part of Andrew’s normal routine in these last few weeks. Here is a picture of me at 36 weeks:

Still no name for now. We are planning to meet the little one first and then make a final decision!
